Located between Fort Lauderdale to the south and Lighthouse Point to the north, Pompano Beach is a thriving community offering a fantastic array of outdoor activities and plenty of fabulous real estate; both waterfront and non-waterfront properties.

Pompano Beach was named after the species of fish (Pompano) that abounded in local waters back in the late 1800’s. First settled in the early 1880’s as a farming community, Pompano Beach was first incorporated in 1908. Pompano Beach covers 20.3 square miles of Broward County with 3 beautiful miles of beach.

The Hillsboro Lighthouse is the main landmark of Pompano Beach. The lighthouse is also known as “Big Diamond” and is widely referred to as the brightest lighthouse in the world. It is located on the shore on the north side of the Hillsboro Inlet. This was named after The Earl of Hillsboro who was given large grants of land during the English occupation. The lighthouse has been in operation since March 7, 1907.

Residents and guests enjoy the 3 beautiful miles of shoreline with some of the widest beaches in Broward County as well as the magnificent living reef located just offshore. Divers and snorkelers can explore several different colorful living reefs as well as several shipwrecks. Pompano is known for some of the best diving in North America. Most dive sites are accessible from the shore. The gulfstream is very close to shore here and will gently carry visitors across the reef as they observe magnificent aquatic life.

Pompano Beach provides approximately 50 different parks and public facilities from Boat Launch Parks to Equestrian Parks, Dog Parks, Tennis Center, Aquatic Center, Amphitheater, Greg Norman Signature Golf Course, Pompano Air Park and Jogging Track to name only a few. Facilities are beautifully maintained and well frequented. There is no lack of outdoor activity in this fantastic community!

The City of Pompano Beach and the Greater Pompano Beach Chamber of Commerce are jointly dedicated to improving the economic well-being and quality of life for all of its citizens.

There are a few wonderful revitalization projects going on in Pompano Beach. The Atlantic Boulevard Beach area and the Atlantic Boulevard Corridor east of US 1 have undergone a spectacular transformation. Fantastic new restaurants and stores have moved into a new center on the west side of the beach promenade. The beachfront now offers a wonderful, wide pedestrian promenade past children’s play areas, picnic tables and grills, a beachside area for adults to enjoy some great exercise machines, the convenience of a beachfront concession stand and a few wonderful grassy areas, one of which is host to a weekly yoga class. There are colorful lifeguard stands with guards to keep everyone safe in the water as well as upgraded rest rooms and so much more. Part of the revitalization package also included dune restoration by stabilizing the dunes with native vegetation. The restored dunes are approximately 3.5′ high providing storm protection, a plant and animal habitat and shading from beachfront lighting being mindful of the sea turtle hatchlings. The entire area is lushly and carefully landscaped to represent what is truly one of the most beautiful beachfronts in the area.

Pompano Beach is now a real “destination” several new hotels and upscale condos including our newest addition The Ritz Carlton Residences in Pompano Beach. This upscale property will include both a Marina Tower on the Intracoastal Waterway as well as an Oceanfront Tower as well. The amenities will be remarkable.

The other revitalization is of our “Old Pompano” Town Center by Atlantic Boulevard and Dixie Highway. The sidewalks will be widened, the area is being transformed into a vibrant, walkable Downtown area. There is a fantastic monthly event called Old Town Untapped where friends and neighbors experience a night filled with live music by local bands and a local DJ, art gallery openings and lots of smiles. This popular event is held in the heart of Downtown Pompano Beach on NE 1 Street and N. Flagler Avenue near Bailey Contemporary Arts Center, 41 NE 1st Street, Pompano Beach, FL 33060. Guests enjoy local craft beer, food trucks, and artist vendors selling unique and creative merchandise. .In May, 2014 the Baily Contemporary Arts Center opened its doors to local artists and those who appreciate the arts. Here you can rent private or shared studio space if needed, catch an awesome art exhibit, enjoy a workshop, a class or perhaps a production. This is a much needed and very welcome enhancement to our community.

Real Estate values have soared here, just like the rest of SE Florida. There are plenty of wonderful neighborhoods to explore!
